Two years after the Attibele fire tragedy which claimed 14 lives and prompted stricter checks on the storage of fireworks, cracker shops in Hosur have resumed business with noticeable changes, with traders restricting the sale of certain high-risk crackers, particularly small hand-held varieties that could burst if dropped or mishandled. Shops now also maintain fire extinguishers, multiple fire extinguishing balls and cylinders, sand buckets, clearly marked exit gates, and boards displaying emergency numbers and safety instructions.
