The move ensures that no decision can be taken on his removal without giving him a chance to present his side.

Mistryโ€™s three-year term as trustee ended on October 28, 2025. A circular was issued on 23 October seeking approval for his reappointment as a life trustee. However, the proposal did not receive unanimous support, with trustees Noel Tata, Venu Srinivasan and Vijay Singh voting against it. This created a majority that blocked his reappointment, effectively ending his tenure.

The decision has revived tensions within the countryโ€™s most influential philanthropic institutions.
