The great paradox of Australian politics at the moment is that Australians are by nature a stability seeking people, and this is precisely why the country’s primary conservative party – the Liberal Party – is struggling. Australia’s dispositional terrain has been incredibly fertile for the party since its formation in 1944, but it is now proving difficult for it to align with. The Liberal Party is pulled by a series of global ideas that are leading Australians to see it as undermining, not protecting, Australia’s stability.
Despite the global trend toward anti-incumbency, federally the Labor Party government maintains a significant lead over the Liberal Party and its coalition partner the National Party.
