A compulsory housing order for poultry and captive birds has been announced as part of measures to minimise the risk of bird flu spread.

Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon said the action, which takes force from next Monday, will “reduce the threat to our industry and to our poultry farmers’ livelihoods”.

Poultry and captive birds must, from November 10th, be housed or confined, he said.
