In his first reaction after being sentenced to death by Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Monday, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the verdict was β€œexpected” and alleged the court was created solely to β€œfinish Awami League leadership” and erase the legacy of the country’s Liberation War.

Kamal, along with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and several Awami League leaders, was convicted by the tribunal on charges of crimes against humanity.
