Around 932,000 people, or 18 percent of people living in Aotearoa, identified as MΔori as at 30 June 2025, according to estimates released by Stats NZ.
The latest projections indicate the MΔori population is likely to cross the million mark and increase to between 1.02 million and 1.09m in 2033.
