The Orb device is used for iris scans that give each user a unique World ID digital passport that offers superior protection, its proponents say.

A group of people who oppose an order to delete data collected from 1.2 million people via iris scanning in Thailand plan to challenge the decision by the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) in court.

Opas Cherdpunt, chief executive of M Vision Plc, which provides locations for installing iris-scanning Orb devices, said he was gathering 500 people who could be affected by the order, to lodge a petition with the Central Administrative Court.

The PDPC on Monday instructed TIDC Worldverse to suspend its service and delete data all the iris scanning data it had collected,
