WASHINGTON (AP) β President Donald Trump said Tuesday his plan to end the war in Ukraine has been βfine-tunedβ and heβs sending envoy Steve Witkoff to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Army Secretary Dan Driscoll to meet with Ukrainian officials.
He suggested he could eventually meet with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but not until further progress has been made in negotiations.

βI will be briefed on all progress made, along with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles,β Trump added in the social media posting. βI look forward to hopefully meeting with President Zelenskyy and President Putin soon, but ONLY when the deal to end this War is FINAL or, in its final stages.β
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday evening aboard Air Force One, Trump said resolving the war was difficult because βthereβs a lot of hatredβ and there are βstandardβ disagreements over his plan to stop the fighting.
βPeople are starting to realize itβs a good deal for both parties,β Trump said. He said he believed Witkoff would be meeting with Putin next week in Moscow, with his son-in-law Jared Kushner potentially joining the meeting.
