Thereβs an episode of βSeinfeldβ where Elaine Benes, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, takes a 22-hour flight with her on-again-off-again boyfriend, David Puddy (Patrick Warburton). She pulls out a book, starts to read, then notices that Puddy has no book. In fact, he has no form of entertainment whatsoever.
She quizzes him β will he read a book? No. Does he plan to nap? No.
βYouβre just going to sit there, staring at the back of the seat?β she asks, perplexed.
βYeah,β he replies.
It turns out that this behavior (over which Elaine eventually and inevitably detonates the relationship again) isnβt just a gag on 1990s Must See TV.
