The Ministry of Public Health has rejected claims of excessively underreported flood deaths, insisting the figures it has released are accurate.

Minister Pattana Promphat dismissed claims made by former deputy national police chief Surachate Hakparn, who said the ministry’s contention that fatalities from the catastrophic Hat Yai floods would not exceed 1,000 were inaccurate.
