A man from Latur district, Maharashtra, has been arrested for allegedly murdering a hitchhiker in an attempt to fake his own death and secure a Rs 1 crore term insurance payout. Authorities identified the accused as Ganesh Gopinath Chauhan, who was reportedly struggling with significant debt.
Chauhan had taken a loan of Rs 57 lakh to purchase a flat in Mumbai, where he lived with his wife and children.
