Politics is entering a phase in which the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) has become the main focal point of political momentum.

A steady stream of politicians from other parties has joined the BJT's ranks.

The party is widely regarded as having strong financial backing and incumbency advantages following a reshuffle of key positions ahead of the House dissolution.

Combined with its long-standing ties to influential local political families, or "baan yai", these factors have placed the party in a strong position as the election campaign begins.

The Bangkok Post spoke to political analysts to assess whether these elements will be enough for an election win, or whether developments between now and election day could influence the outcome.
