An India Today investigation has exposed the claims of the district administration of Noida, who deny illegal sand mining activities in the area, claiming the mafia has been neutralised and operations are fully regulated. An undercover investigation just found the opposite of what authorities claim – mining continues under the cover of official leases, rules are brazenly violated, with the system appearing either unaware of it or unwilling to act.
