Sewer bacteria was found in Indore's drinking water supply following the deaths of 10 people, raising serious questions over pipeline safety and monitoring in India's cleanest city, authorities said. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the two top officials of the Indore Municipal Corporation were suspended, while the corporation's commissioner was transferred.
In a tweet, Yadav said the state government will not tolerate negligence in Bhagirathpura area, where the outbreak broke out, despite Indore's reputation as India's cleanest city for the past eight years.
