The South film industry is gearing up for the Pongal/Sankranti weekend, which is set to witness multiple releases. Kicking off the festive week were Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Prabhas’ The Raja Saab. However, with Jana Nayagan being postponed due to a delay in obtaining its censor certificate, The Raja Saab has suddenly gained a clear advantage at the box office.

Soon after the makers of Jana Nayagan announced the postponement, theatres across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka opened bookings for The Raja Saab’s premiere shows on January 8, to be followed by a full-fledged release on January 9.

Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab is a fantasy horror comedy and is being projected as a pan-India venture, banking on Prabhas’ popularity.
