The term basically refers to how residue from smoke remains on furniture, clothes, walls, and the surrounding space. So, when you come into contact with these surfaces, chances are the toxins get transferred and you become a third-hand smoker. While people usually talk about active smoking and passive or second-hand smoking, this is just as dangerous and far less talked about. The issue has also gained global attention, with California recently enacting a bill to address third-hand smoke.
