US stocks fell on Monday after President Donald Trump's administration opened a criminal investigation into Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell, raising more concerns about the central bank's independence.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by more than 300 points at the opening bell on Wall Street. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also opened in the red.
The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury notes was up nearly two basis points at 4.187 per cent, while the 30-year bond was up two-and-a-half basis points at 4.844 per cent.
