India does not approve of any activity in Shaksgam Valley, says General Dwivedi

India considers the 1963 agreement between Pakistan and China regarding Shaksgam Valley to be illegal and does not approve of any activities in the Valley, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi said on Tuesday (January 13, 2026) .The Army chief, addressing a press conference in New Delhi, said the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China has been stable, but it needs constant vigil. China on Monday (January 12) reaffirmed its territorial claims over the Shaksgam Valley in the backdrop of India’s objections, stressing that the Chinese infrastructure projects in the area are β€œbeyond reproach”.
