Voting began on Thursday morning across 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra, with Mumbai commanding the most attention as the BJP-led Mahayuti and the reunited Thackeray cousins clash for control of the city's cash-rich civic body.

Polling for 2,869 seats across 893 wards started at 7.30 am under heavy security and will continue until 5.30 pm, with 3.48 crore voters eligible to decide the fate of 15,931 candidates.
