Something strikingly similar unfolded this Thursday.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, a man whose vocabulary is as celebrated as his love for cricket, shared what should have been a routine PR win on social media. Tharoor had met Gambhir in Nagpur ahead of the first T20I against New Zealand and praised the India head coach for remaining unfazed by relentless scrutiny, carrying on with what he described as β€œquiet determination”.

Tharoor went a step further, calling the India head coach’s role, the hot seat Gambhir currently occupies, the hardest job in the country after that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
