At least 200 people are feared dead after a massive landslide struck a coltan mine in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, news agency AFP reported citing government officials.

The disaster hit the Rubaya mining area in North Kivu province, a region currently controlled by the M23 armed group. Officials said rescue efforts have been severely hampered by poor communication and insecurity in the area.
