About a week into the voyage, the Indian Navy's wooden sailing vessel INSV Kaundinya, on its maiden voyage from Porbandar to Muscat, is nearing the halfway mark of the route to Oman. The ship, retracing the ancient maritime route that once linked India with the Gulf countries, after facing unfavourable weather conditions for the first few days, is now on its course to Muscat.

Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of PM Narendra Modi's Economic Advisory Council, who is onboard the vessel, said that the crew had shifted to Gujarati theplas after the crew ran out of fresh rations.
