Seoul shares extended their rally to a sixth session Friday, setting a fresh record high backed by a rise in auto, defense and shipbuilding stocks. The Korean won fell against the US dollar.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index rose 33.95 points, or 0.75 percent, to finish at 4,586.32, inching toward 4,600.
