Wang's trip upheld a Chinese diplomatic tradition, whereby China's foreign minister begins the year with a visit to Africa, for the 36th consecutive year. It is a practice that reflects the deep-rooted friendship, political trust and shared aspirations of China and African countries.
The countries Wang visited this year were Ethiopia, Tanzania and Lesotho, China's strategic cooperative partners.
