Sanjeev Krishan, chairperson of PwC in India, said India is still far behind China when it comes to manufacturing scale and productivity, and closing that gap will take time.

Speaking in conversation with Sidharth Zarabi at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Krishan said the gap is not small and cannot be bridged quickly.

β€œIt will take time because I think both on scale and productivity we have kilometres to cover. Not just a few metres. We have a long way to go unfortunately,” he said.

Krishan said India’s industrial productivity is almost half of China’s, and the gap exists not just in manufacturing but also in services.
