I knew this would not be easy. So I prepared for the first day with enough change in my wallet. I collected Rs 50, Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes from my parents, knowing Rs 500 notes would be impractical. Most of my routine payments are to cab drivers, auto drivers and small food vendors. I assumed smaller notes would solve the problem. They did not.
