A new political outfit named Kenya Great Party (KGP), whose symbol is a Sufuria (cooking pot), has applied for registration — a move that has provoked public intrigue among Kenyans still familiar with the 2023 anti-government protests led by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance.

In a notice published by the Registrar of Political Parties, John Cox Lorionokou, the office confirmed receiving an application for the provisional registration of the party, whose founders are six Kenyans — Mercy Njeri Chomba, Sheila Jemutai, David Muiruri Njoroge, Ivan Matunda Bundi, Peter Ngui, and Nasra Osman Ibrahim.

According to the notice, the proposed party’s symbol is a Sufuria, its colours are grey, light blue, and white, and its slogan is “Kikazi Kipya.”
