Months after GenZ protests overthrew the government of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah fired off a Facebook post that stunned many. It was November 1, 2025. In the post laced with F-bombs, Shah lashed out at Nepal's major political parties. He took aim at India, China and the United States. "You guys all combined can do nothing," Shah wrote. The post stayed up for barely 30 minutes, but by then it had racked up tens of thousands of reactions and screenshots that went viral.

The rant was combative, impulsive and fiercely anti-establishment. It summed up the resentment many young Nepalis felt towards the political system that dominated the Himalayan nation for decades.
Five months later, rapper-turned-politician, Balendra Shah, aka Balen Shah, stands on the verge of occupying the highest office in Nepal. Following the historic youth-led uprising last September that forced Oli to resign, Nepal went to the polls on March 5. Balen Shah, the prime ministerial candidate of the pro-monarchist Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) swept the polls. Shah, a Millenial, would soon become Nepal's next prime minister.
